I'm transferring to fort SAM Houston on the 10th and have no idea where to move into. I don't want to be on base, and would prefer a house somewhere close to base where do i find listings??? Craigslist has been useless.

A good place to start is the relocation sticky: http://www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...index-san.html then go from there. Good luck!

I concur. Check out the relocation thread that was linked. Did they really give you only 2 weeks notice? Is that typical for military?

Doesn't the military help their people out when they PCS? I've never heard of just being on your own like that.

Are you looking for rentals? What about apartments nearby. I'm sure you know a lot of folks at Ft Sam, so call and ask for referrals of places. That's your best bet. If you're looking for a rental house, find a Realtor.

They usually give you a house hunting trip.

No, they don't help at ALL unless you want to live on base which is very expensive and not very nice. I've been looking for a realtor but haven't had any luck finding any.

No realtors in San Antonio? Where'd they all go? It's a travesty!
