Just wanted to update everyone.
I went to Dennis and ended up getting a nice wedding band with diamonds in it... cost me about 650 after taxes. =)
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Oh and I wanted to mention about Americus Diamond - their stuff is nice but it seems they have fake positive reviews planted when you google search them... not important but it made me go hmm...

ETA that the people at Dennis were the only ones that didn't try to sell me something extravagant or coerce me into buying an engagement/bridal set like some others did.
They respected my price limit and I was very pleased with the service and quality of the ring.

Glad you did not use Americus Diamond! I did look there at first before my fiance' found Texas Lapadaries. They are rude, and aweful sales people! I had such a ad experience with them, I will never step foot in that place again! And YES their positive feedback you saw when you Google them IS fake. They posted their feedback after my fiance' posted a negative feedback there after our horrible encounter. There was only one or two posts when we posted ours. The next day there were double the posts ALL positive, and naming sales people as the "best person to work with". We did take it down because we attempted to work with them once more, and, well....that did not work out.

When we were looking for rings, we went to Americus Diamonds. The salesman put a 28 thousand dollar ring on my finger. We were college students and just laughed. He also told us about a Houston Texan football player that came in the weekend before with his wife and bought a 100 thousand dollar ring. Funny...because the Texas had an away game the weekend before and when my husband mentioned that he said well maybe he played for another team...basically it was a lie. So we didn't buy from there and haven't been back!

If not looking for something totally custom and unique then James Avery has very cute items.

I would recommend them over Dennis Jewelers especially if you want better customer service.
