I love Rudy's. It's seriously my favorite BBQ. As others mentioned, I love the cream corn as well. I had a friend tell me once that she was going to have Rudy's do the catering for her wedding reception!

I didn't care for this place. The drive was serene (at night it was spooky) but overall i just felt the food tasted flat...not very special.

Salt Lick is hit or miss. When they hit they are on par w/ the Lockhart spots. The byob policy is a real plus.

I must admit their BBQ was some of the best I had in SA. However, they refused to accomidate me when I asked for a 1/2 chicken all white. They would only give me white/dark meat so they lost me as a customer.

Ps... Sausage should taste like sausage, not like a turkey hot dog.

Wow, where the heck do you get your turkey hot dogs? They must be outstanding if they taste like Rudy's sausage.

When I had the "Sausage" it had no fennel in it, that's what gives sausage that authentic flavor. Otherwise it tastes like a hot dog/warm bologna.

Has anyone ever had BBQ from Snow's BBQ in Lexington, TX ... Lexington is 51miles from Austin ...

For some reason I got some random Travel magazine in the mail and there is an article about BBQ joints ... They are talking about what is called North Carolina Style bbq, Kansas City style, Memphis style and Texas style --- Apparently Texas style says "Pit-smoked with a dry rub" ...

Anyway ... this Snow's place has only been open 7yrs but has lines going outside ... They are only open on Saturdays ... They open at 8am and once the food is gone, the doors are closed ... per the article the food usually runs out about 12noon ...

The pit master is a lady named Tootsie who is in her mid 70's ... she comes in at 2am to man the fire and pit ---

Texas Monthly named it the best BBQ in Texas for 2008

Seems like it would make for a fun little road trip ...
