Default New mid-century modern cafe

You have to see this place to believe it. It's called "Bestpresso's" and it's located in Castle Hills at the corner of NW Military and Sunflower (just south of West Avenue). I haven't been inside but it's some kind of coffehouse and gallery.

From the outside it looks like a small office building that you would swear is 40 or 50 years old. Even the red brick used to construct it looks old-fashioned (modern), like something in an old high school. There used to be a Shamrock gas station on that corner for over 20 years during the 80's and 90's, and closed down a few years ago.

Hmmm, I wonder how Gretalia Coffee House is holding up under the competition? If it's even still there--we haven't been in nearly a year. They needed to work on their service, but the food was pretty good and it's a cute little place. We may have to check the new one out--I love coffeehouses!

I'm so glad someone knows what this place is!!! We drive by it almost every day, and when it was under construction we kept wondering what it was going to be. Admittedly, we haven't stopped to find out what it is, so I'm glad someone around here knows. It's just a mile or so from our house so we will stop in some time and I'll report back.

Wouldn't it be great to have an all night coffee house like the one in "So You Married and Ax Murderer" with Mike Myers? Quaint, jazzy, fun......I can still picture him up there "reading" poetry to jazz music...... All it was missing was Maynard G. Krebs!

We'll have to check out this place.....thanks for the info!

Default Bestpresso's

From what i think you guys are talking about, is a building designed very much like The Alexanders of Palm Springs, Alexander Construction Company - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Bob Alexander was an incredibly prolific residential builder, and when i first say this structure going up.. i thought of him... i think it is an exact copy of one of his houses. I should try and find it sometime, i do have several books... Thanks for talking about this.
