Default Please help : Info needed on San Antonio ISD Schools ???

Can anyone give me some info on San Antonio ISD ? How are the schools in San Antonio ISD ? What are the best high schools in San Antonio ISD ?

How do the schools in San Antonio ISD stack up to the high schools in Northside ISD ?

I have been told that San Antonio ISD schools are in inner city San Antonio.I was told that inner city San Antonio is really like living in a rural area (not alot of crime or gangs) ,is this true ? I have been told that inner city San Antonio is nothing like inner city Houston or Dallas.

I have also been told that San Antonio ISD is now one of the best districts to teach in due to a strictly enforced student dress code , is this true ?

Best school in the SAISD is probably Highlands.

Low.

North ISD, North East ISD, East Central ISD, Southwest ISD, Alamo Heights ISD, South San ISD I'd rank ahead of SAISD.

Um... no. By rural do you just mean low crime??? Becuase the setting sure isn't rural in the inner city. A lot of the inner city like Houston or Dallas is old and run down and has pockets of extreme crime.

Of course you have the exceptions like Midtown and Uptown,

No, they're the same.

That may be true but I highly doubt it. SAISD does have a strict dress code policy but I don't know how that makes it better to teach in

If I were you I'd look at North side ISD, North East ISD, and East Central ISD.

All three (as well as other school distrcts in SA) have recently increased salary for teachers.

At Northside ISD you will make 40,000 a year which is up from 35,000 a year.

However, I don't mean to make SAISD sound so bad, but compared to other school districts in San Antonio it is, however compared to many other school districts in other parts of the country, it's utopia. I mean when SA took in all those evacuees last year many kids had to enroll in SAISD and they all raved about the schools compared to what they had in New Orleans.

Default New Orleans Schools Are Deplorable

New Orleans public schools are war zones, terrible terrible schools. That isn't saying much if a SAISD is better than New Orleans Public Schools.

Would you send your children to a SAISD school ?

I went to a SAISD school my entire life.

I found them great but I would be the first to say they're not as great as Northside or Northeast but that's just because SAISD is the oldest school district in San Antonio and no new high school has been built in the last 30 years. While NISD and NEISD are cranking them out like a factory. There's 3-4 high schools (keep in mind I'm only talking high schools here) under construction between NISD and NEDISD.

You can add Comal ISD, SCUC ISD as adding new high schools. I also forgot to name those two ISD's in my other post.

Of course being an inner city school system the students are going to be a little rougher and more problem-matic but not dangerous.

Like I said, I attened a SAISD school my entire life growing up on the southeast side.

I had no problems with the school, I never wanted to relocate schools or ever feared for my safety.

The teachers were always great but IMO the dress code sucked but that was the opinion of every student there just because you couldn't express yourself wearing the same thing everyone else was.

I wouldn't advise you not to work in one of them but I would say check out NISD or NEISD as they pay better.

But if you choose an SAISD school you won't hate it.

Hopefully that explains or clears anything up.

As for your question, I'd send my children to whatever school district we lived in whether that's SAISD or SOmerset ISD or East Central ISD, SA schools (k-12) are good schools no matter which one, that's an honest answer.
