In order to Obtain a license at 16 I believe you need to have a permit for 6 months. Once 6 months is over, then you can take the test for the actual license. This information may not be completely accurate though since they change the law constantly.

Try searching the local yellow pages and call every school available. Most driving schools for teenagers last about three weeks. If you were 18 then you could skip all the schooling and just take the test. Good luck on finding one!

I am not sure what the cost is now, but my son went through a rhodes driving school and they were really good. In fact after he completed the class and had his permit for 6 months I was able to waive the driving portion from DMV to get his license. I would also check the Hardship rules as this may be a way to get it cheaper and quicker.

$300 driver's license training and 6 months before you can get your license. Gotta love the police state we've become.

They are other ways. Parent taught? I believe the licensing law was changed on Jan 1, so you might go online to:
TxDPS: Driver License Division (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/driver_licensing_control/dlindex.htm - broken link)

Anyways, a driver's license is considered a privilege, not a god given right.....
