Actually, if you go to the Ciel website, it says they are remodeling the dining room and are opening a new concept in the fall.

Just like Ciao2 is going to be completely redone, both failed. Tells you a little about Stone Oak taste. The Vatel resturants do great in Olmos Park, but flop in Stone Oak.

They've got an absolutely horrible location. It's way out on Stone Oak, nowhere near other retail/restaurant space, no freeway frontage, and it looks like a Dentist's office. I could've told you it would fail before it opened.

I question 'the taste' level of some in Stone Oak: Based on the amount of chains invading the space, it seems to me that home-grown is best left to Downtown-AH-Southtown.

The location is surrounded by homes and apartments, and it's on one of the most congested streets in the city. Drive down the street and across the other side of 281 and BJ's and Chilis is packed!

The Green Lantern is making it there, and that's practically down in a basement.

BN said it, it's the "taste level" of people living in that area.

Wow...really, our taste level is dictating what restaurants come into Stone Oak. I'd lean more towards the economy and definitely the poor layout and location of those Ciel and Ciao2 restaurants -- really, who puts restaurants at the BACK of a building where no one can see them???

But, sure, it could be our taste level. We Stone Oak-ians are, after all, the great and powerful Oz who control the universe. (Add maniacal laughter here) -- Oops -- let me install a happy face here know there are several who can't comprehend sarcasm unless a picture is attached.

Taste levels are obviously different across the city. That's the reason why theres a chili's, applebee's, chochkie's, ect... around stone oak, but not on the circle in olmos park, or in the pearl, or by central market. The customer expects more than the 19.99 meal for two in those locations, regardless of the "poor layout".

I don't get why Vatel put those restaurants in SO. He could have put them Monte Vista or off Broadway near the Pearl or Midtown.

Have you been to these restaurants? That part of Stone Oak is neither busy, nor congested. It's not like it's directly across 281 from BJs, it's inside Stone Oak. You'd never find it if you weren't looking for it.

Please don't get me started on "taste level," that's crazy. If the restaurant fails, it's due to location, location, location.
