People moving into the Hill Country need to remember that although we're doing well on rain right now, the long severe drought we had should show people that resources are limited, whether they are taking water from the Edward Aquifer or another one. Xeriscape plants and limiting your water use inside is what comes to mind. Rainwater harvesting helps. But if you want a whole yard full of lush water-hogging vegetation, go to a part of East Texas that has more rain.

The Texas hill country is defined by the rugged limestone hills that separate the coastal plain from the Edwards Plateau.
