when i lived in houston my elec (only) bill was never under $125. i had small (<1000sqft) apartments untill i moved away. here in sa, until this last summer my combined (elec/gas) cps bill was around $150 for the summers and $75 for the winters.

there are two notes i need to make however. in houston, we kept the summer bill down by suffering, and staying away from the house until nightfall. secondly, i dont think this summer would have been too bad for me if my ac unit wasnt old enough to vote and i had windows manufactured after 1960.

SA DOES have some of the lowest TOTAL utility bills around, without a doubt. What gets me is the recent settlement w/the Nuclear project, where CPS touted the $$$ that'll go to the "I can't afford to pay my electric bill" crowd, rather than going to the utility. I'm sorry, but have ya'll ever looked at the electric bills of some of the "I'm too poor to pay" crowd? You'd be amazed at how high some of 'em are! I've NO issue with helping out folks that simply don't have the money to afford their reasonable electric bills, but I've seen 3 and 4 HUNDRED dollar utility bills from some of these folks in APARTMENTS!!!!
