My husband is from Honduras/he came here to make money for his two kids back in his home country/he worked as a security guard there for about 400/month---can make that in a week here, and help a lot of his family back home.....

He is a decent lad, exceptionally hard-working, sober, and responsible/ I can't fault him for coming here......... and I want us to relocate to a better economy/I read on the US dept of labor statistics that you guys have a low unemp. rate compared to other parts of the country at this time.....

Are illegals given a rough time there?

Caution: This thread and the San Antonio forum are NOT the place to debate/discuss/complain about/praise/etc. our nation's immigration policies.

City-Data has a forum for that topic here. Feel free to start a debate there and link back to it here, but don't do any of that here.

Make your replies helpful to the OP and please do share whatever information you have that is helpful, but avoid commentary.

I have held a few jobs here in SA and always had to offer proof of citizenship for DHS compliance. My wife and daughter have hired hundreds of people in SA and every one of them also had to show proof of citizenship for DHS compliance. My son does security work here in SA and had to show proof of citizenship for DHS compliance.

San Antonio has been "hard" on illegals since the late 80's. Most bypass the city and instead go to Dallas, Houston or Austin.

Seriously though, one positive thing that I will say about SA is that from what I've seen, most folks seem to get along.

If he's your husband (assuming you are a US citizen) then how is he illegal? Doesn't marriage to a US citizen make him eligible for permanent resident status?

I find this post very fishy:
- Didn't say in what city she lives
- Didn't say what type of work her husband does here. Or does he only work as a security guard?
- If he is illegal, he would already know by talking to his co-workers that San Antonio is a bad city for illegals and that Dallas, Austin and Houston are way better (at least, in terms of pay).
- Doesn't take a genius to know that the closer a person is to the border, the more likely it is that they'll run into immigration officers.
