Yea, first time I had seen that, though.

The other time is when I was at a Subway in Miami and a lady was practically yelling at me because I didn't order in Spanish like everyone else. Then again, it was a Subway in the ghetto.....and had major stomach cramps from whatever she put in there.

My wife was openly discriminated against at a job interview for a receptionist position because she had the wrong 'heritage.' I on the other hand haven't run into anything really.

Sometimes it seems that I'm the only one speaking English.

Oh, I've seen clients throw 'mini' tantrums because nobody spoke Spanish, but they usually just walk out. Nothing major like stomping feet.

White, 20-something, 6'3" guy here: I've always felt welcome in San Antonio, no matter what part of town I might be in.

I shop on SW Military (HEB Plus) all the time and never have had issues. I speak fluent Spanish, but have rarely felt 'forced' to use it. I speak it when it's easier for the person I'm speaking with to understand me.

Sure, SA has a large Hispanic community, but it's one of the most racially harmonious cities I've lived in. Every city has their issues, but this one tends to focus on positivity more often than differences. It's what makes San Antonio one of the most laid-back places to live (well, for me anyway).
