Ok. I'm in need of some advice concerning my ticket(s) and in the process of contacting my lawyer for counsel with this because I'm unsure of what to do.

I rec'd a speeding ticket (over by 10mph) by TDPS in Blanco county and since it was my first in a very, very long time...opted for 'deferred dispositon' and agreed to pay a fine and a 90-day probation.

Well, within 2wks, I rec'd another speeding ticket (again, over by 10mph) by TDPS in Kendall County. I paid my fine and opted to do defensive driving.

So question, will the second ticket affect my ability to keep a clean record and continue deferred disposition if I successfully complete defensive driving?

To be honest I'm afraid to call Blanco Co to tell them, I don't know what the process is?

Confused and frustrated....

I drive about 4000 m/mth for my job and am pretty vigilant about speed limits, just wasn't paying attention and now need to figure out what to do! It is also important that I keep a decent driving record for fleet purposes. 1 or 2 tickets will not put me over the edge, but I need to take care of this.

Arghhhhhh...

I hate to tell you but usually you can't get ANY moving violations during the 90 day probation period.

A friend did this with a ticket. The County Attorney told her that if she got a ticket during the 90 days then both tickets would go on her record without a chance of getting them off.

You definitely need to contact your attorney. Kendall county should have seen what was going on with your record, I'm surprised they let you take defensive driving for the second ticket.

Good luck bud.

first, even though a lot of people will whine about it, get a radar detector. If for nothing else, it'll make you pay more attention and offer a friendly reminder to pay attention to your speed. Plus the best offense is a good defense and the cops are going to be pretty ruthless.
Next, get a lawyer. The price isn't much higher and you'll have a better chance of getting it dismissed. I just happened to be in munincipal court last night where I got my ticket dismissed. I paid the extra $10 or so to have a lawyer handle it and it worked out perfect. By paying them they normally take care of everything for you and you don't even have to show up, but for some reason the court wanted to see my smiling face. If that happens, wear something like slacks and a polo or better and actually show up. The people I was with either didn't bother to show up or were dressed way too casual.
BTW, I talked to a coworker who is married to a SAPD cop and she said they don't mind if you challenge it because they get three hours overtime just for showing up. If you actually take it to trial they get six. It's easiest for them to say they didn't remember it and call it a day after 15 minutes. It's all just a revenue generating scam and would be easy to nail with the RICO act.

RD radar detectors are out of date. Police uses LIdar nowadays. So by the time your radar detectors go off warning you, the cop alrady has your speed. Look into getting a laser jammer. currently they are legal here. and there are ways to get out of speeding tickets. if you know how to speed or pace properly.

Thanks for the above advice...

Lawyer said to complete DD for my second ticket because it will keep it off the driving record and should be fine.

I really don't like dealing with this stuff...trying to deal with bigger issues but I know I know, my fault.

I need a break here, literally!

are you sure? i thought that the deferred adjudication meant that you could not get a ticket "within that jurisdiction" for 90 days. or is it ANY jurisdiction like you are saying?

Its usaully any jurisdiction. But then it may not catchup- with you until it is recorded on your driving record.Defeered just means that the judge has not hit the gavel and formally sentenced you, He can do thsi at anytime aftre that and make it offical so to speak.Adjudication is formal sentencing.

I didnt read what other posters wrote above, but I was in your position. Your probation only applies to the jurisdiction in which you received the ticket. You can still do the dd for the second ticket without it affecting the first one. My probation was in Flatonia, I can't remember the county, and my ticket was in S.A.

LIEdar? well, when i was an installer at custom sounds we had alot of sales folks who were on the road 50-60K miles a year buy our top of the line radar/jammer. it is an Escort system that ran about $1600 installed, but it was a writeoff and to be honest with you one of the best in the world. 3 sensors/jammers in fron and 2 in the rear. it was an amazing system.
