Hey all,

Setting a goal for myself to find something a little closer to civilization within about 3 months. I'm living in a very rural part of Texas south of Austin. I do some work out of the house, and am looking for something flexible to get me out of the house in the afternoons, and to give me some spending money/or for a few living expenses. I am looking towards the east part of San Antonio or the west/south side of Austin. San Antonio is looking more convenient for me at the moment. But I'd like to know which has a better environment for finding either, a flexible afternoon job or something telecommuting. I'm also looking for ways to meet some people, and like to go to the gym.

Welcome your thoughts,

Thanks

I would not recommend East San Antonio. It is improving, but honestly it is not that safe.

If you are looking for something with few living expenses in a relatively okay area then try North Central San Antonio out. There are gyms everywhere in San Antonio and the living expenses will be cheaper in SA than in Austin. You will find plenty of people to meet in both cities. Just remember San Antonio is the second largest city in Texas so you will have plenty of things to do. Austin also has plenty to offer, but from your description it seems like SA would be a more suitable environment.

That's good info thank you. I'm just getting familiar with San Antonio, so we might be talking about the same part of town, I'll have to look into it.
