Has anyone tried using crushed glass instead of wood in fireplace? If so, where can I find crushed glass in SA?

Try here - Spark sells it (online). Good choice going with the crushed glass, BTW.

Works with gas only. Here is a good website: Fire Place Glass - buy direct glass crystals
Beautiful idea! I would love to have one of those
Enjoy your project

It's a great look, but do make sure you use tempered crushed glass. I've known folks to try it as a DIY project and end up with very dangerous shards of glass lying around. Not good.

It's really quite simple. Remove existing fireplace logs and the stuff they sit on top of so that only the gas fixture remains. Next cover the area with the material.

It looks 10X better if you have a fireplace with glass on 2 or 3 sides, or one that's well-lit on the inside. Those are uncommon in most houses though. Anyway there are a few of us on here that like contemporary, so if you've got other questions ask away.
