Hi, folks.

All of this recent talk about our different (competing? conflicting? complementary?) visions of "San Antonio" made me think about this great website, which offers virtual "tours" of three of the city's central sectors: Downtown River North, the East Side, and the West Side. (Interestingly, the South Side, including King William and Southtown, is left out.)

San Antonio Neighborhood Tours :: Tour ::

Scroll through the photos and check it out. My favorite part is the section on the notable "People" associated with each part of the city--mainly artists and historical figures, but also activists, politicians, and business people.

Most of my favorite restaurants and sites aren't even included on this site, but this is still a pretty fair and accurate representation of what I consider to be the heart of "my" San Antonio. It's what makes the city unique and unlike any other part of the state or country.

Agreed that it the site needs to add some parts of the city. I still like the site and I hope it gets the visibility it needs.
