Forgot a con and too late to edit - obesity seems to be an epidemic. Moreso than most other places I travel to.

Pro:
Traffic is good in some areas
Friendliness
Weather-it's so nice!
Attractions-when family visits it's not hard to make plans
Cost of living is great
Outdoor activities
Diversity of community

Cons-
It is kind of cliquey in some aspects. If you don't join groups, have a small group of friends from work, school, etc. it can get lonely. I am still, even at the age of 25, very close to my friends from high school.
Lack of higher end fashion and shopping (yes we have a Neiman Macrus, but I'm talking like anchor stores, a Marc Jacobs, H&M, maybe a Top Shop, but not an Ed Hardy...lol)
Maybe more dog parks
Lots of cookie cutter communities. I'd love to see some neighborhoods like Monte Vista, Alta Vista, Alamo Heights, etc outside of 410...not everyone likes being able to see inside their neighbor's window and seeing their same exact layout two houses down. Maybe something like Plum Creek in Kyle...except that's master planned too...dum dum dum.

Pros:
1. diversity (of people and housing) within the historic districts
2. Cost of living
3. Friendliness of people
4. Winter (cold one day but warm the next)
5. the riverwalk

Cons:
1. the general acceptance of teenage pregnancy
2. VIA's "do it as cheap as possible" attitude (ex: BRT)
3. "Good 'ol boy" politics (qualifications don't matter, just relationships)
4. lack of maintenance (of parks, of public buildings, of roads, etc.)
5. the continued destruction of the natural landscape outside 1604
