Anyone remember Flakey Leonards Hamburgers? Two locations, one on Blanco & Patricia and another on Thousand Oaks. I still consider these the best burgers I've ever had.

I do remember my parents taking my brother and me to the joint around 1990. We only went once, but I distinctly remember thinking that is was the best cheeseburger I had ever tasted. I wish I could have tried it more. I thought at least one location was on Austin Highway, but I could be mistaken.

According to a poster from Final Fantasy XI :: ZAM
Quote:
In San Antonio there was the Hamburger place that was really popular called "Flakey Leonard's".

Then one day it was closed. Then on the "Behind the Kitchen Door" segment on the news, they ran the story about why it closed down.

They were serving Hamburgers made from Horses.

yeah, as a kid my dad took me to the Austin Hwy location but what I remembered the most were the fries. It was the first time I tried twice fried fries and they served A LOT of them!

Flakey Leonard's had a location on Nacogdoches Rd about a mile from MacArthur HS. I think it was called The Hamburger Factory either before or after the Flakey Leonard's name. But, yes, they closed abruptly in the mid-80s and I never really knew why.

Yes, I remember them. "THE" Hamburger Factory and the ultimate 5 pounder FLAKEY! Went there on a regular basis on Nacogdoches and the one on Thousand Oaks. Really great burger. Then all of a sudden they all closed at one time. Never understood why!
