An NISD teacher has been arrested on a charge of credit card abuse.

Police arrested Candice Small, a teacher at Krueger Elementary School. They say she stole a colleague's credit card and used it at an HEB -- and according to jail records, it's not the first time she's been arrested for theft.

Why do people think they are going to get away with this in 2010? Stupid!

I never fail to be amazed at the stupidity of thieves....what's so VERY said is that this besmirches the teachers, most of whom would never dream of doing such a thing. So sad!

We are absolutely shocked by this news! Our son had Ms Small a few years back while at Krueger and absolutely loved her as a teacher. He was so sad when the year was over, and only recently saw her at an event at the school.

Krueger is an outstanding elementary school, and this is just such a sad situation...she was a good teacher, but obviously she has other issues...

Sadly, theft (from teachers) at school is not uncommon...many times there is no secure place to leave a purse.

A career lost over a stupid act.

THAT is the part that still has me shaking my head....this wasn't a student teacher, wasn't a first-year one. That there could be such a moral disconnect in her scruples is simply beyond me. Most of the teachers' I've known have these issues with their students, new custodians or parents - not (typically) their fellow teaching staff!

I'll never understand why people don't think of the consequences either. Was it really worth it for some groceries? I would never risk everything I have for something stupid like that.

My wife and I were very involved in Ms Small's class, my wife was even the Class Mom for her; so needless to say were are just dumbfounded over all this. We would have never guessed it based on her classroom experience, she was a loving and dedicated teacher who interacted well with her students. Honestly, we would have said she was a model educator; and had our youngest not switched schools because of a better special needs program at a different school, we would have worked hard to have him in her class.

Never did we get any indication that she was in financial straits. It just doesn't make any sense, but sometimes these acts never do...

I have never once had a cashier check the name on my credit card when making a purchase. Just saying....
