Where can I find out if 281 is open? I came down through downtown south to work on Flores St. which was ok, but all streets going north through downtown are at dead stopped with traffic. Plus I have a 2:00pm meeting on Bassee and Broadway!!!

I am wondering the same thing myself. All I can find on KSAT is the information from when they closed the roads. I have to go show homes in Alamo Heights..

These two links should cover closures for every road in the city. Just be forewarned that the TxDOT link is slow, probably because a lot of people are checking it.

Default Crazy falling ice in the upper 30's

How warm does it need to get before all the icicycles have fallen onto the roads? This was happening in the upper 30's this afternoon. I don't think it will be safe to drive again until tomorrow when it starts getting at least 40 and above.

What has been your experience driving in freezing and post-freezing conditions?

What does it matter to you? I was hoping I would get more responses from people who might not check the weather thread. It might become a useful topic people could search for and refer to in the future (like myself). But I guess that's too much to ask for, and now I know that I probably won't get many more responses to this question, if any.

I myself was VERY disappointed in the way road closure and reopening was handled during this last session of ice...and think they should figure out a way to get more timely info to everyone to help keep people from get all bottled up in one area when things are closed down, or to let them know a route IS now open and safe to use.

With the current weather prediction of possible repeat this next Wed/Thursday, would be MOST helpful to have a little better system of notification in place....

Forecasters said that we have a repeat of last Friday (luckily I was off) this coming Tuesday? That would suck, since I have to work. Hopefully not.

No...they are saying it's nowhere near the scope of last Friday. Pretty good chance we get nothing as of now.
