I have State Farm and I love it. I had an accident with someone who was covered by Allstate and the person admitted fault. Allstate tried to say the person did not admit fault and they refused to pay. The issue went to or was arbritated (I do not know the proper way to say it). After arbitration Allstate had to pay 80% of the accident. We had our home insurance with Allstate and our car with State Farm. After this incident we cancelled Allstate all together. I no longer trust them after the way the agent lied to me over and over. This is the short verison but yes he did lie numerous times and was caught in his lies.
There is a whole web page dedicated to Allstate and their dishonest practices.

Before any faithful Allstate members get upset, this is my opinion based on the personal issues that happend to me, nothing more.

You mean there is another person with car insurance in San Antonio? WOW! I thought I was the only person! I have been hit 3 times by lowlifes without insurance.

I used Hartford for years and my broker recently recommeded switching over to State Auto for both home and auto..and I ended up saving $100 a month between the 2 for the exact same coverage.

On a side note...if "The Man" cant even enforce people to have the required car insurance...how the hell will they enforce people to have health insurance? (and yes I know it suppose to be the IRS).

BTW, the nice smiley guy on the Fred Loya Insurance Commericals isn't Fred Loya, and they arent a local company either! So I dont know where they get of saying "where being local matters"?????

We switched to Germania about 3 years ago, after 20+ years with USAA.

Haven't regretted it for a minute.

Default Insurance

I put my house and vehicle insurance out for bid every 2 years. For the last 4 years Farmer's Mutual had the most competative bid...before that it was State Farm.

State Farm!! Love them! Even though they might be a little more expensive, you get what you pay for.

The Hartford (http://hartfordauto.com/Insurance-Qu...surance.shtml/ ) any day for our family! We’ve been with them for a long time; as far back as I can remember. I have being doing comparisons with other companies year after year but then the few dollars saved in premium rates (by switching) don’t really match up to the service provided in terms of claims and benefits.

I have Allstate. They more or less owned everybody else's estimates. Although State Farm can be competitive too.

Don't shop based purely on price like people seem to do for... more or less everything in San Antonio. Compare what coverage you're getting.

Questions you should ask no matter what company you decide on:

**Verify what they tell you with an independent source (such as the OPIC policy comparison chart). OPIC

Does your homeowners policy cover:
· Replacement costs on contents
· Water Damage
· Water Back-up
· Foundation
· Identity Theft
· Personal Injury
· Full replacement value on your dwelling
What is their financial rating?

DISCOUNTS
Ask your agent about available discounts!!
A number of home insurance discounts may be available for things like installing smoke detectors and wind-resistant shutters, to insuring your home and auto with the same agent. Your agent can give you the details on how to save on your property insurance premiums at the OPIC website as well.

Check ratings with A.M. Best Company You want to make sure you use an "A" rated carrier.

Hope this helps. I write and use Nationwide Insurance and they are an excellent company that also writes in San Antonio.
