They are building one of those gigantic, monstrosities here in Boerne, I wish they would build one of those little mini ones like you see in the small towns for those of use who aren't planning on buying patio furniture and 52" tvs while we are picking up our dozen eggs and a quart of milk. I mean really what's next, they will be the size of the Alamodome next, I sure miss Albertson's

I don's shop at HEB anymore!!! I got tired of having to search for the name brand products. Why not just change your name to Hill Country Fair!!!

I gripe about this, too. And, when you do find the name brand product, it's so unreasonably priced you look like an idiot for buying it! It's such a mind game and I just refuse to play and help make them an even bigger monstrosity. There are other choices in town. Not just Walmart. You just have to be willing to drive a little bit. I am.

I thought they nixed the Plus idea? The only thing I liked about it was the large garden center. And yes, Houston HEB's are very nice. If you're from here and go there, you don't even feel like you're in the same store. Huge difference.

What are these crazy name brands that you guys are looking for? I have never had any issues finding products. I am still amazed at the long list of brands that they have from around the world. The only thing I don't like is that some world brands vary by location in town. My next door office mate's wife travels everywhere looking for new products for HEB.

I will still choose HEB first because they are primarily a grocery store and always have more than 2 lanes open. I'm not a fan of the quality at Wal-Mart and Target.

Yesterday I was looking for Scope mouthwash and they had two bottles on the very bottom shelf. While the HEB brand was five shelfs full. Even better is trying to find the Velvetta cheese block, so annoying. I have started shopping at Target for this reason plus there are no lines!

I don't believe so, a new one just opened up in Bulverde.

HEB makes more money off their own brands and, as with any business, that's the bottom line.. One of their big guys gave a presentation to my marketing class last semester and explained the strategy behind own brand marketing and it makes a lot of sense once you know the incentives behind it. Groceries stores do not operate like normal businesses and HEB's model has actually won them a lot of praise including retailer of the year for 2010.. I guess all HEB's are different. I buy Scope and Velveeta never having problems finding them. Also I know you can't be going to the Bandera Target. Everytime I go there they have 2-3 lanes open and backed up in the center and no express lines open.

When/if HEB plus opens I will probably never go to Target.
