NW Residents Garage Doors Won't Budge (http://www.ksat.com/video/22351113/index.html - broken link): "Homeowners say their automatic garage doors won't open because of a transmitter at NSA property."

Every time I get a new gadget, I always see that FCC label: "This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation."

Makes one wonder what we ever did before automatic garage door openers. I'm looking forward to everyones' thoughts and opinions on this.

I watched that KSAT story on the news last night. I was amused that the statement from the NSA PR person stated that if they were at fault that they would work with garage door vendors to get the doors onto a compatible frequency. You have to figure that if this was a commercial user, they'd be more interested in moving their own operation to a more compatible frequency.

Property Manager Gordon: “interfering with the enjoyment and security and peace-of-mind of my clients…”

1) The enjoyment of pushing a button and having instant gratification?
2) Not sure how they are less secure. Even when you don't have power, you can manually put the door up and down...and still lock it back on the chain.
3) Peace of mind?

We've been having problems with our garage door opening! I wonder if this is the reason...we are close to that building and the neighborhood in the story is very close to ours.

Hope the picky HOAs are understanding.

This is not uncommon. Happened in Florida around military installations alot.

I'm not quite as close to the NSA as the garage door people, but my (remote control) ceiling fan/light keeps going off and on at will. I wonder... LOL
