South Texas Herpetology Association
Snake Rescue Program: The members of the Reptile Rescue Committee of the South Texas Herpetology Association will rescue snakes and relocate them where they will have less encounters with people.
Yes, this includes rattlesnakes, copperheads, cottonmouths and coral snakes. Each member is trained for the live capture of snakes and will work closely with local law enforcement in answering nuisance snake calls.
This service is provided FREE OF CHARGE as we are a non-profit organization. Donations, however, are always appreciated.
We practice live capture and release to the maximum extent possible. Keep in mind that some snakes may not be suitable for relocation. For example, some may be escaped pet snakes such as pythons and boa constrictors. For those, we will find the snake a new home.
Service areas are as follows:

I've seen 3 dead on the road in the last week, and am pretty sure I heard a Rattlesnake up by my house as well. FWIW I live near 35 & Walzem - IN town.
I saw 2 Coral Snakes recently.....slitherin'.....

I heard on the news about how another Coral Snake was actually found in one of those holy water holders in a local church.....they said they originally thought it was rosary beads.......

I wouldn’t take a chance if one of them showed up in my backyard. Just shoot at sight!

Last year during the worst of the drought snakes moved into more inhabited areas because that's where water was...and also food. Many are probably still in the city from that time. I don't normally kill snakes...not that big of a problem out here anyway.

Here is the last snake that faced off with my cat. Most other animals, bugs and Scorpions get a pass and are relocated to the woods. However poisonous snakes are just not allowed to hang around. Normally I use a snake repellent that we get from Mummies, but I had not put it out in several months when this guy showed up.
