So Cedar never ever gets me. While everyone is suffering through December and January with it I'm all smiles, but find me today at work and my eyes are watery, my make-up is gone because I've been rubbing my head and my medicine cabinet is empty because I've tried everything.

Is anyone else like that? They can get through cedar season but oak hits them super hard? It's horrible! Do you use the same remedies as Cedar sufferers? Or is there a special oak remedy?

Oh and maybe it's the ash too...but whatever it is...it's always around this time of year. Ahhhhh.

I am so sorry, because I know how absolutely MISERABLE spring allergies can be. This is the first year that I have had NO problems! It is actually pretty exciting for me...in east Texas, the culprit isn't so much oak as PINE. Gads. Southern Yellow Pine, Longleaf Pine, ugh. The pollen makes me just about end up with a sinus infection every year it is so bad, and I am absolutely worthless from being so exhausted and run-down.

So, from a pine perspective, I feel for you. I am really sorry! I am sure after a few years of acclimation, my histamines will act up to the oak too...

Yes, you use the same meds you would use for Cedar fever.
Try Zyrtec D. Make sure it has the "D" in it, you must get it from the pharmacy.

Good luck, you are not alone, my dd and I are suffering terribly too.

If you (or anyone else) has bad enough (and suffer frequently enough from) allergies that it's a constant issue I'd suggest you get checked out by an allergist and consider getting allergy shots. It's inconvenient, but not nearly as inconvenient as suffering constantly from allergies. I'm sure glad I got allergy shots when I did.

Also, shower at night before you go to bed...washes off the pollen (yep, it's on you), and keeps it off of your sheets.

This is especially helpful for kids!

This is me, too. I've lived here 2 yrs--no trouble whatsoever from cedar (so far), but the past several days I have been sneezing like crazy, eyes watering, nose running. I was wondering what else was pollenating besides oak. I haven't had this much trouble in years. I was told by my daughter's allergy dr that we would have to live here through at least one season of cedar before becoming sensitized (allergic) to it. We are moving back to the southeast soon--otherwise I would be really dreading the next cedar season!

Immunotherapy has been very helpful to my daughter. She used to have chronic sinus infections. Since starting the shots, she hasn't had one infection. I know it doesn't work that well for everyone, but I think it's definitely worth looking in to.

Thanks y'all. The allergist is a no go since I don't have insurance for another 3 months (by then it'll be cedar season again!). Showering at night is something I always do, but never thought of it as a fix. Today is a way better day. It's interesting how things come and go.

Absolutely! And swab out nostrils each night with some saline/salt water on a Qtip.

My neti pot is invaluable to me when I get hit with allergies.
