Does anyone know what happened to it? I visited there a few weeks ago (hadn't been to SA in years, grew up in Woodlake and Kirby) and saw that the pool area had been demolished. Looks like the golf course and country club building are still active?

I personally don't know. It was a very promising community in the early days....my parents were members when they first opened, as were lots of retired military. The cheap tract developments that encroached that area really hit the area hard.....similar to Windcrest. Windcrest however has the protection of being it's own "city" and has done well to be somewhat insulated from deteriorating within the city limits. That being said, the areas surrounding have not enhanced that community.

I'll ask around about Woodlake CC.....

Any updates on Woodlake CC? I visited their website, and everything seems OK now.

Also, I will be moving to SA soon and will work at Fort Sam Houston. I was thinking of a golf course frontage home at Woodlakce CC or a home in a nice neighborhood in Woodlake Park. Anyone have any suggestions?

The area definately took a downturn but is looking a little more promising now. The golf course is still active and there is a current push for more members to upgrade the facilities. Only time will tell how the area will turn out but as a homeowner, we can only hope things don't get any worse.

Until last weekend I hadn't played the Woodlake course since Jon Junker sold it a few years ago. I should have stayed away - very sad to see a once nice course in such sorry shape. The only grass is on some greens. I'd considered buying a home in the area many years ago and am now thanking my lucky stars I didn't. The folks who initially bought into the area should feel cheated if they're still there.

I suppose the area could turn-around some time but from the looks of it it doesn't look like it'll be anytime soon. The folks who live in the immediate area seem friendly enough but a very rough looking crowd just past them.
