For my birthday a week ago I wanted a steak and chose to go someplace I hadn't been in a while...The Barn Door. It was deee-lish! The Chateau Briand was melt-in-yer-mouth good! And the cheesy jalapeno baked potato was awesome.
It's pricier than pizza or chinese (the two things you mentioned) but worth it IMO.

You didn't mention no one disliked seafood! haha

I love SeaIsland by Northstar.. Mmmmmmm

Others:

Joe's Crab Shack

Pluses:
AWESOME atmosphere, disco-dancing entertainment (Carwash [song] - played every 30 minutes), fun, friendly servers, unpretentious.

Negatives:
Consistently very long wait-times for food, small food portions, and expensive food.

Panchito's (McCullough/Hildebrand)

Pluses:
Mariachis on Sat night, great atmosphere, fun, good prices, good food. My Dad loves their large 4.00 margarita bowl-like (or whatever you call 'em) drinks.

Negatives:
The servers are average and mediocore at best in their service. Very little smiling and they forget things.

Chacho's Chalucci:

Pluses:
Fun, Party place, 2story play thing for kids, CHEAP CHEAP food. No tipping, no servers!

Negatives:
Can get VERY busy and LOUD LOUD LOUD on the weekends. I could barely hear my family talking with the live band and people. We were semi-outdoors. You could go indoors but it's a small seating area indoors that accomodates only so many.

Please answer this brief questionaire to help us serve you better

Do you want to keep it cheap, or do you have a little money to drop?

Are you looking for a "fun" experience or is the food the most important thing?

Is location important?

Will you want drinks?

Will there be young children?

happy birthday

Since it's YOUR birthday then you should pick the place that YOU like.

Or let the family decide and surprise you.

Sorry, I don't have any better suggestions on restaurants than have already been posted.

Happy Birthday!!!
