ugh... one of my roomates swears she heard a door slam here at the house today and of course she believes in ghosts or something. I don't think they're real and she has an active imagination so you can guess what my explanation is...

Actually I went there with my kids and a few friends and we got pulled over by the guard that works at the Correctional facility next door. He stated that the Insane Isylum and the street it is on was now property of the Dept. of Corrections. So if he really wanted to, he could've given us a ticket for tresspassing but didn't, he gave us a warning.

The property does belong to the city, and there are signs all over the place stating that; but the street is a public one and unless things have changed since we were last there over the summer, there is no way they can cite you for trespassing while on a public street!
The old guy who lives across the street from the "insane asylum" (I use quotes as there is no evidence that it was ever such a place...I think it is all urban myth, but still it's a cool one!) has been known to harass people but there is nothing he can do either. Of course, those who do break the law and trespass should be reported; but as long as you stay on the road you are legal.
Cheers! M2

People are getting arested for going on the properly of the asylum. Also, some have said there are many snakes in the area and are at risk.

Yes, going on the property is trespassing, but being on the public road next to the property is not trespassing!

This question has probably already been answered, but the thread is long...lol. Where exactly is this asylum? I've heard of it of course, but have no idea where it is. Also someone said that the road is now part of the Cerrections Dept? I work for the Texas Dept. of Corrections in the only facility in the San Antonio metro, and don't know of this place beside our Dominguez Unit. If it's beside another facility it would be a private Corrections Firm, and not the State Department which wouldn't allow the facility to purchase a publicly funded road.

I was looking on youtube and noticed several video clips of haunted locations in San Antonio. One that seemed pretty interesting that I haven't seen posted on here yet was the Grey Forest Inn out on Scenic Loop. Does anyone know any of the history of this location? If there were any incidents etc...?

The "Asylum" (in quotes as there has never been proof that it ever was one) is on the SE side of town not too far from the Haunted Train Tracks. It is at the end of Farm Road which is just off of Southton Road. Again, please do not tresspass on the property (there are signs all over the place and there is no way you can miss them).
If on your way back from there you head back up Southton Road (going north), make a left on Shane (which is before you hit 410) and follow it through the neighborhood. On the other side Shane connects with Villamain Road, and that location is the Haunted Train Tracks. Stop up Shane just before the tracks about 20-30 yards, and put your car in neutral. It will roll "uphill" towards the tracks.
As for the Grey Fores Inn, we pass it all the time but have never ate there. I wasn't aware nor do I recall it being haunted. It is a cool old place, so if there is a story behind it I would also be interested. I work with someone who live in Grey Forest, I will see if he knows anything about it.
Cheers! M2

MMM....I'm curious about your statement that there has never been proof that it was ever an asylum. Are you referring to this specific location? or whether there was an asylum at all. What Farm Road off Southton Rd?
Thanks....cat
