just registered to post. i am listening to The Secret School on utube (posted by theduderinok2) right now so i searched for the observatory and saw this thread. interesting. i also rode this area after i moved back to town (late 90s). from brakenridge going upstream to find the source of it all. found the blue hole, the streams under the playing fields and the other flows from under the usaa retirement bldg on patterson. (there are some old abandoned benches back behind it, but it is a low area with more springs around it). very serene place too! springs flow all around the olmos in wet times. water coming through the golf course across 281 is probably spring fed as it is always flowing as i can remember. rode all around the damn dam. private property from patterson upstream to the dam (congested swamp, then steep climb out to the road below dam since it is fenced in). paths and hills on both sides. walkway down to the basin north and east of dam. then all around the mess down there. there is an old nature area w/bldg south of the pool behind the ball fields on the northeast side from the dam. wish i had heard this before those rides, might have looked harder at it..
anyway, if you are concerned with the dark side. that is most likely meant to frighten away people from the learning. isn't "occult" just a word for hidden? some choose to hide the information we need to set us free. (so they can own us if only for a while)
i suppose we are all part of the "one". some choose to move in the shadows. they are neither good or bad. if all is illusion, then they are just themselves in a diverging path.
each to their own for their own reasons. all our paths are to the one.
i think that is the lesson from the school..
ramble ramble..
ride when its cooler!!

I dont see how TMI, the military school, could not be involved. They tore it down pretty quick.

Riding my bike I became lost out in the basin. Its amazing or was rather amazing I should say how far I rode and was no where near the creek/river. Doesnt seem like theres that much land out there but I guess there is. I found a small hand made wooden bridge crossing a small creek which was pretty awesome.

When Christopher Walken calls you crazy, you had better dang well believe you are!
Quote:
While serving as executive producer, author Whitley Strieber, whose experiences serve as the basis of the film, expressed concerns about Christopher Walken's abilities in portraying him. When Strieber finally told Walken that he might be portraying him as a little too crazy, Walken replied, "If the shoe fits." (Source)

It is a little known fact that after Christopher Walken said that to Whitely Streiber, he then yelled "More Cowbell" at the director.

Sorry - can't tell you. It's classified information that we don't discuss with outsiders.

Never saw the movie, but they did interview the author when the movie came out at the time. Sounds like a good story but that's all. I mean look at the city. When I was growing up 1950s-64,65 here you had the following:Fort Sam Houston, Camp Bullis, Camp Stanley (Army), then there was BrooksAFB,RandolphAFbase, Kelley AFBase, Lackland AFBase, And Medina AFBase (there is the Medina Base Road) in existance. My late father was a chief mastersargent and worked at Kelley in Military Intelligence for the Airforce. With all the military around here, surely there would have been major UFO flaps all the time. My dad's divison would have been going nuts everyday with all the ufos and little aliens hanging around the Olmos Basin. I don't think there is any such "school 'there at all.
Think it just makes a good story.
