I may be taking a job at kitty hawk & 1604 near universal city & am looking for a place to live. My wife & I have been in the stone oak area or 281/1604 & like the looks of that area. Would that area be a decent commute or would it be hell both ways? Any other newer areas that would be an easy commute to universal city with good restaurants & shopping? Thanks for any info.

No traffic would be about 20-30 minutes.

Is this stretch of 1604 heavy on traffic during 7-8 am drive time?

1604 in general between I-35 and I-10 tends to be heavy during am and pm rush hours. IIRC, though, eastbound is heavier than westbound in the am.

You will be going against traffic both ways, so it will take probably 15-20 minutes. I work in Stone Oak and live off of 1604 and Judson and it takes me 10 minutes door to door. From Judson to Kitty Hawk, it's probably another 8-10 minutes. It will be a very smooth ride for you both going to and from work.

I would say heading to work from 1604 to Universal City you should be fine in the morning, commute is pretty good. The drive home would take a little longer, once you get to 1604-281 at rush hour its bad.
