Anyone familiar with any of these nearby cities... (from 2006)
Medina, Rio Medina, Dunlay, Devine, Hondo, Wimberly, Castroville, Mico, camp Verde, Center Point, Lakehills, Real, Comfort, Camp Wood?
The pros, cons? Climate, crime, beauty, hills, etc?
Any info on any of them would help and be much appreciated. Thanks bunches.

Seems like you would like La Vernia out of your list I'd take Camp Wood.

Well, they are all small towns between 500 people and 9,000. I know Devine is a straight shot up 35 to downtown, about 20 miles I think, flat land, I've only been there a couple times but didn't care too much for it then again I don't know anyone who lives there. Castroville is about 20 - 25 miles closer to San Antonio than Hondo and is a decient place. It's kinda where the hills stop from the east and north so alot of flat area. I think it's around 3,000 people, but growing fairly fast. Decient schools. Hondo is the larger of these towns with your basics like a HEB, Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, some good local BBQ, and small cafe's, etc... All of the people I know there are great, but it's an hours drive to San Antonio without any traffic, and can be much longer if you hit rush hours. The land is brushland, and mostly flat slightly hilly going north and east. I actually have sold alot of Real Estate out there and it can be found at a decient price, but everyone in these areas you have listed have their property marked way over the current value it seems. Mico is close to the lake, and in the hills, but the town is kinda crummy, not even really a town, more like a village. The people seem to like it that way, and keep to themselves from what I've seen, but who knows. Lakehills is actually a beautiful area with many hills, a beautiful lake, about a 20 mile drive to loop 1604 in San Antonio but no traffic at all usually. It's also about a 15 mile drive to Bandera which is a very cool little town. I actually almost built out towards Lakehills, but there are parts of this place mainly in town that are kinda backwoods. Comfort is a decient place, kinda in the middle of Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Boerne off I-10. I have close friends from there, and the people are very nice. You can find land ranging from hilly to riverfront, to pasture land. Climate isn't going to be much different in any of the areas because they are all in the same geographical area. Only slight differences from lake areas with fog, and maybe a little humidity in the summer, but not much. Don't know much about the crime in these areas either because from what I know there isn't much. They are all small towns. There could be underlying drug issues in some, but I have no clue.
