I love them, Last summer here at 1604 and Potranco we had some but we have been here for 10 years and before, they were more prevelent. I like to see them. If you go to cibolo you see more.

We have them too.
I remember when I was a kid we would smear them on our wrists and make "jewelry". Poor little fireflies
I would NEVER do that now, nor allow my kids too.

We would just catch them in jars and kill them that way.

Go out towards Bandera. We were up there last weekend and saw literally, thousands of them. We would turn of the lights in our camp at night and all the trees looked like they had twinkling christmas lights in them there were so many.

We had some in Westcreek last year, but that was the first time I've seen them since I moved here in 2001. It might have something to do with the amount of rain we received.

Smear them for jewelry? I have never heard of that? What happens when you smear them? Do you glow?

Yes. You must smear them while they are lighting up. We would smear them around our wrists and have light up bracelets. Like I said, just be sure to do it while they are lit. I know it is gross!!!! I could NEVER do this now. YUCK!!
