Default House Hunting...next Saturday

Hello all...my family and I will be house hunting next week. Since we are looking for a 4 BR for around 185K or so, we'll be focusing between the areas of Westcreek/Redbird Ranch and Cibolo/Schertz area. We seem to be priced out of the Stone Oak/ Alamo Ranch areas.
Commute is not an issue, as I work from home a lot or fly on business. No office in town. These areas look like they would give me the option of flying out of Austin ,if needed.
We have an infant son (4 months old) and are, of course, looking for a quality school district for him (and any future children ) . We're really curious about the Cibolo area....any of you live there and can comment. How are these sub's.
Ridge at Willow Pointe, Enclave at Willow Pointe, Gatewood, Woodstone etc.
We would also like access to a pool....doesn't have to be our own...clubhouse pool / community pool would be just fine.
How are the taxes in these areas?? Shopping???
Sorry for so many questions......it's getting close to our trip and I need more time

flgator is on a distinguished road
Wish I could help you out. We will be moving to Schertz/Cibolo area in July. We bought a house in Belmont Park which is in the city of Schertz but has a mailing address of Cibolo. The area seems really nice and our house is a bit in the country. Just a bit. The subdivision is off of Old Weiderstien Rd which is a 2-lane country road. However, I am sure that in a few years, we will be surrounded by other subdivisions and the road will be widened. An elementary school is being built right next to our subdivision and is scheduled to be opened Summer 08.

There is a thread here about new development in Cibolo. It looks really impressive if it comes through.

I think our taxes run 2.46% vs 3% in San Antonio proper.

Shopping seems great The Forum is just a few minutes down the road.

Thanks! We'll be in town for a week. I think we're going to hit the Far West on Sunday and part of Monday...then take a ride out to the Shertz/Cibolo area.

Haven't read much on Schertz/Cibolo schools...anyone have an opinion?
I know the Far West will be Northside schools..they look good from what we've read.

We are in Far West--I think! New to the area! Outside 1604 in Alamo Ranch. We actually found the area on a Sunday drive while researching SA!

Proud Latina NY/SA is on a distinguished road
I live in Belmont Park in Cibolo and absolutely love it. I moved to SA from NY about 9 months ago. My neigbors are really nice and we do have a community pool. They are building an elementary school right next to the community that will be opening in 2008. I am extremely excited about this because my son starts elementary school next year. I love Cibolo!!!
