just a courtesy,

my brother just called me to tell me that there are 12! SAPD cars on the east bound side of 410 between Blanco and Fredricksburg where the highway makes the quick turn (with a big inner shoulder) before I-10

careful on lunch!

This was on The News at 9 a few weeks ago. Good thing I keep my speed down in that area.

KABB Fox San Antonio :: Top Stories

If you speed on Loop 410, you could find yourself paying an expensive traffic ticket, considering how many officers patrol the area. The action we found for a second day in a row was on Loop 410 around the Fredericksburg Road overpass. In just a half hour, we spotted a number of officers on Loop 410 on motorcycles, marked units and in unmarked units. Last week, Precinct Three constables gave out 29 speeding tickets in two hours on Loop 410. San Antonio police officers say they pay close attention to accident prone areas.

Does the speed limit suddenly change in that area causing you to suddenly be going over the speed limit? That would be one definition of a "speed trap".

its 60 mph all the way to I-35 IIRC.

but everyone goes 70, and a few people go 80. i'm happy about them stopping the people going 20+ over, but they should really up the limit to 70 mph on 410.

for me, that turn just before I-10 is notorious for people not paying attention and cutting over 5 lanes to get to Fredricksburg or I-10. its happened to me at least 3 times.

We saw numerous SAPD cars pulling people over on 410 this morning, and given how some drive it like a race track, we're happy to see it!

I have to say I love my new Garmin Nuvi that show you what the speed limit is on most roads! With that and my actual speed display, it's easy to keep close enough to the speed limit to avoid getting pulled over!

Cheers! M2

the speed limit is fine as it is. It is set by the city and the insurance companies as a way to generate more revenue.
70 MPH on a multi-lane merging hwy is almost suicidal especially those people as you mentioned who jump 5 lanes and kamikazee on through the exit as they pass you. I'm glad the SAPD is really letting these speeders have it.

That IS part of their job - enforcement of the speed limits/traffic laws. Here's a thought - obey 'em, and you won't worry where they may be. It always tickles me when someone calls traffic enforcement a "trap". I understand that it's a common phrase (have used it myself a time or twenty), but maybe we should rethink it. A trap is where they hide behind things, use sudden speed limit changes w/o real justification, etc.. A clearly posted and fairly enforced traffic law....is a law we should obey. If we don't like it, then fight for it to be changed - but in the meantime obey it or take your medicine like a man!

Um...I can't think of anything better to do than save lives. Can you think of anything better than that?
