You're of course right Ketabcha ! Should have been "in" not "with" - just one little word changes the whole meaning.

Ketabcha,
I am with you...
we are not at war with Afghanistan .
We were ATTACKED by the Taliban.
Additionally, we are not allowed to
say we are at war with the Muslims because it is not politically correct. If you do all the bleeding hearts ATTACK.
But to clarify MY reality is that we are at war wtih the Taliban who are an Islamic fundamentalist militia with strong factions in Afghanistan.
What does that mean? Islamic Definition:
The people or nations that practice Islam; the Muslim world.
The civilization developed by the Muslim world.
If anyone can track this 1...2...then 3
It is prettY %^&^%^$%#!!@ SIMPLE TO ME.

In this morning's LA Times is an article on the Temecula mosque. There was a small demonstration yesterday by those opposed but they were greatly outnumbered by those who support the Muslims building a new mosque and most of those standing with the Muslims were Christians.
I'm glad most people in Temecula believe in freedom of religion; those who follow Islam have every right to build a new mosque. But I must admit that I am against a group of Muslims who want to open a mosque near the World Trade Center disaster of 9/11 in New York. Maybe I am being prejudice but it seems inappropriate to locate a mosque so close to where 3000 Americans were killed by radical Islamists Am I being close-minded?

californio sur , I was under the impression that the mosque in NYC will be several blocks away from the WTC site.
Personally I think it would be lovely if there was a mosque nearby - as a sign that we haven't strayed from the principles this country was built on. That old saying that "if we change the way we live, then the terrorists will have won" is true. That said, while I may not agree, I do understand that some might think it was insensitive if a mosque was built next door to the WTC site, but if it's several blocks away? I don't see the problem?

I believe you are correct that the mosque will be located 2 blocks from the World Trade Center tragedy. And I truly have mixed feelings since my gut goes with freedom to worship anywhere one wants. But my heart is bothered by the insensitivity of the Muslims. For example, several years ago a group of nuns wanted to build a convent near one of the concentration camps in Poland where 1000's of Jews were murdered by the Nazi's. Even though these Catholic nuns had nothing to do with the extermination of Jews they were urged to not build a convent so close to the concentration camp and out of respect they decided to not build. I think the raw emotions are even more intense with a mosque that is the faith of the murderers of 3000 Americans that happened less than 10 years ago.

The best way to tackle fear, ignorance, etc is by going at it straight on. The nuns you speak of could have helped break the stigma, instead they avoid the conflict and the fear lives on.

One of the people behind the building of the mosque in NYC is a Sufi Muslim by the name of Imam (that's a title) Feisal Abdul Rauf, has been an activist for improving relations between the West and Islam for many years. Also, it's going to be more than just a mosque, but a community center, as well.
Although, it should be noted that there are Sufi Muslims against his plans to building the mosque/community center so close to Ground Zero, as they believe it is inconsistent with the Sufi belief of sensitivity towards others. (This, however, cannot speak for other sects of Islam, such as Sunni or Shi'ite, for example.)
That said...
To the OP-
Not all Muslims support radicals within their religion. Many are disgusted with the actions the fundamentalists have done in the "name" of Islam. And if you knew anything about Islam, you would know that what they did and other actions, such as suicide bombings, are not condoned by Islam.
Why don't we talk about the white terrorists? Before 9/11, the biggest terrorist attack on US soil was committed by a white, American citizen. Eric Robert Rudolph, a radical Christian and white supremacist, was responsible for numerous bombings around the south, most notably the attacks on Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta during the 1996 Summer Olympics. I won't even get into the hate-mongering whackados, the Westboro Baptist Church who protest at the funerals of service members (among others).
By your theory, all Christians are bigoted terrorists and we should protest the building of anymore churches and "educate" ourselves on the threat we face by our very own people. And honestly, maybe you should. You might not like what you find, though.
