What would attract a single, straight (we think) woman to move to Rancho Mirage? Our niece did, and we cannot understand the draw there--unless it's the golf.
Statistics say Palm Springs is mainly gay men. Does this mean she has given up on finding Mr. Right totally? You should see how upset her mother is about it.
Give me some feedback on this so I can set her mother straight about why a single, attractive woman would choose to live in a gay male dominated area.

It's not like they sit at the county line and only allow gay men to enter. While the Palm Springs and surrounding areas has a large gay population, there are plenty of straight men to go around. On the weekends, the Marine Corps base in 29 Palms brings a big influx of men to the area also, so all is not forever lost. The area is lush with palm trees and tropical plants, the weather is warm year round and the golfing is like no other. Most people have swimming pools, and I'm not sure what industry your niece works in, but there are many good jobs in the medical field and tourist industry. Maybe she is drawn to the Great shopping and architecture of the area, or just wants a hot sunny climate?
Relax, you will all want to visit her in the winter when it's 80 degrees!

She is in the medical field, so maybe that's it.
And she is a big golfer...
I'll pass on your info to her mother who is having hysterics right now. I think she sees her fantasy of grandkids slowly fading away, frankly.
The area sounds gorgeous, tho.

Rancho Mirage is a beautiful town with some serious coin floating around. My guess is she will bump into some young doctor and things will go from there. If my daughter called me up and told me she was moving there I certainly would have no problem with it. BTW my college aged daughter has a few gay male friends, they don't bite and in fact they keep a very good eye out for her when they all go out and about. Since I am 1600 miles away I am grateful for these guys whom I have met, for looking out for my baby. All will be well, tell her mom to relax.
