My husband may be taking a job Pomona, CA and we were thinking about living in Onterio. Is this a nice place to live or would anyone suggest another town.
Any suggestions would be greatly appricated since we live in PA and have never been to Southern CA

I lived in Pomona for nearly a year and absolutely hated it. I always thought LaVerne was a better town to live in but this was years ago and I don't know what its like today. At that time the crime rate was so high in Pomona. For me, its way too crowded in Southern California and couldn't wait to leave. Now I live on the Central Coast in CA.

You should include what income you will be making and if you have children, how many and their ages. Income is to see what neighborhoods you could afford to live in/where crime is least, and children, which neighborhoods/schools are kid friendly. There is great variety in So CA, even when areas are within miles of each other. There is the heat factor too, and if you have enough money, you may want to live somewhat closer to the coast/further from the IE (Inland Empire aka Desert). Seasons in CA go from hot to very hot.
Welcome to So CA.

Pomona is very congested, hot, smoggy, and has a high rate of crime. A good friend of mine lived there for many years and he was extremely unhappy as was I whenever I drove up to visit him. If you want to live relatively close to Pomona (within 10-25 miles) I would recommend Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, La Verne, Glendora, or some North Orange County cities like Brea, Placentia, parts of Fullerton, and Yorba Linda. These cities are generally very safe and well kept. If I had to choose I would pick Northern Orange County because of its significantly cooler weather and it's a safe, clean area to raise a family. Fullerton has a lot of nightlife, restaurants, and plenty of things to do if you like to go out and have a good time. Plus, you are closer to the coast in North OC - only about 30-45 minutes to Newport and Huntington Beach.

I am sorry that my learning disorder offends you. I will try to be more perfect in the future.

I agree - both are hot, smoggy, crowded and high crime.

MovingtoCA, you did not mention if your spouse's employer has any type of relocation programs that could offer benefit. There's a place to inquire of as well...
I heartily concur with the other writers about areas outside of Ontairo. And whatever the spelling is, we have gotten what you meant so far regarding the potential relocation town.
For myself, I lean towards the LA county areas - La Verne... and Glendora, but that's a personal preference. A question about Chiino Hills, and I also think it was raised in one of these forums - does it still smell like cows? I had a relative live there, and by golly, there was no escaping it.
Good luck in your search, Moving, and we can try to objectively answer any other questions that come up.
