I don't get the issues over water, Californians waste so much water today that if made even basic efforts it would reduce consumption a lot. As the costs of water go up people will start conserving, if the government wants people to do it now they will have to increase taxes and artificially drive up the price.

Why are people growing lawns, owning swimming pools, etc in the the desert?

Why can't someone figure out an inexpensive method for doing water desalination?

Because we've already put someone on the moon.

My only concern is the amount of single young professionals in Temecula. I know there are a few night clubs, but is Temecula a city that has a noticeable population of young professionals? It seems like it is very family oriented... I would really love to live in this city, but I don't want to be driving to San Diego or Orange County every weekend to find some nightlife. Any insight on the nightlife of Temecula, or if a mid 20s person would enjoy living in Temecula?
I live in Murrieta - a few miles north. There are just two of us and you are SO right to question the area. It is beyond boring unless you are raising a family. Our son beat feet to San Diego area as soon as he was legal (the kid has a GREAT job).

Housing prices are good, but that's about it unless a day of Chuck E Cheese and the movies is considered a great time (and many people around here do think so - which is, of course, their right). Like I said, there are LOTS of kids!

There a couple semi-clubs (restaurants during the day) and, ahem, a Hooters. The only bright spots, imo, in Temecula is Old Town and the wine country, which we usually only go to if we have guests. Oh, can't forget THE mall. When it was built you would have thought the first Starbux had come to town. The traffic stinks, the commutes do as well.

Aren't you glad you asked? Like I said, just my opinion. If prices go back up somewhat, we are definitely out of here. Oh, and it's VERY conservative for California which may or may not matter to you. Ok, I'm ready for flames on this one. It wouldn't be the first time I've had this discussion although not online. Good luck on wherever you end up!

PS - There's not much night life in Riverside either - especially considering there's a major college there. Smog and hot in the summer and crappy drives to the beach/OC/LA. Yikes, sorry to be such a downer!

Temecula is clean, classy, and not a great night life spot which is a good thing because most of us don't want a bunch of drunkies invading our quiet town. It's the perfect place to raise a family .

If you have small children, fine. If not, it's everything and more that everyone else has told you: narrow-minded, traffic-ridden, uptight, moralizing and boring as hell. The Christian right-wingers live there in full force. Ugh.

Including that Temecula preacher (Pastor Lemons) who posted numerous videos on utoob detailing how his godhead figure kept telling him that sinful L.A. (conveniently, not Temecula) was going to be destroyed by an earthquake in 2010. Those videos are no longer available for some strange reason.

Well, despite some of the tangents, this thread has been helpful for us to consider putting Temecula on the map. I think we'd still prefer living closer to San Diego proper, but all things considered, Temecula generally has most of what we're looking for.
