Default metrolink coming to Palm Springs?

This might be a bit off-topic, but here goes. I am looking for comments about the prospect of the Metrolink (from Los Angeles) coming to Palm Springs. I've done some research, but can't find any meanfingful information. Is that because there are no real plans for it?

Thanks.

Desertho will become famous soon enoughDesertho will become famous soon enough
According to Wikipedia:

"Future plans also call for line expansions extending the service area. The proposed 91 Line Extension, known officially as the Perris Valley Line, will link Riverside and Perris by 2010 [6], with eventual plans for a Phase II extension further east to Hemet and San Jacinto.[7]"

In short, no. Palm Springs is just too far--an hour away from Riverside itself.

MHP?? Not sure what that stands for... if you want to know who the electric
company is for La Quinta ... it's imperial irrigation. You could call them
and ask them any questions you have.

HI! I've been reading all of your posts and they have been very helpful. My husband and I and our six year old daughter are relocating to the Palm Springs area sometime in June. We are coming out to visit and look around at different areas at the end of March. We are moving from Chicago so all of this is really different for us. We have visited the area quite a few years ago and fell in love with it. Can anyone recommend a great place for a family to live. We are really fun and not at all "midwestern". We were looking at La Quinta. My main concern is finding a good school for my daughter and a neighborhood where she will make some friends. We would like to rent a house just to be sure we like the area. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

La Quinta is split up into two area's... North and South. North La Quinta
is pretty much all nice newer developements... all great schools and
low crime. You can't go wrong in any North La Quinta neighborhoods.
I think though... you would especially like the following neighborhoods...
Cactus FLower, Desert Pride, Monticello, Sonrisa, Sunflower and Topaz.
You can look these up for yourself on the real estate site
DesertArea.com--Your Online Property Search Portal of the Coachella Valley!!! you then choose north la quinta and you can
look at some of the houses for sale. I know you want to rent but this
will give you an idea of what neighborhood you're interested in. Then you
could look on craigslist for that neighborhood. About South La Quinta...
it's further away from shopping and has some really nice homes and some
really old run down homes and they can be right next to each other.
Crime is higher in south la quinta too... for what you are looking for I would
stick to North La Quinta and you can't go wrong. Good luck..

Default Bermuda Dunes

What price are you asking and what are monthly bills

. It has been our second home since 2000. If you're interested in more info please post reply.

We are selling our small home (1344sq feet) in Bermuda Dunes. That is an unincorporated city nestled in the middle of La Quinta, Palm Desert and Indio. It has 2 bedrooms and a swimming pool. Very bright and open, yet secure when you are not there. Completely enclosed with block walls and a locked gate. very safe and the neighbors are wonderful

For the posters talking about Desert Hot Springs, I'm rather offended. My grandparents live in a very nice home in the Mission Lakes Country Club. Mission Lakes itself is a great development, very well kept, quite and safe. Many of the developments bordering Mission Lakes are very nice areas as well. I wouldn't have a problem living in any of those developments. While there are very unattractive areas to DHS, it as a whole community is not a horrible place.

I still recommend anyone thinking about DHS read the Desert Sun. While Mission Lakes may be nice, that's just not the case once you leave Mission Lakes. Read the paper and check it out for yourself.
