I am writing a story and need a location for it to take place. It needs to be a small and typical town in California. Middle class (nothing to high class but still not a place of poverty). Not on the ocean. Not a touristy place. Some place that the reader has probably never heard of. Thanks

Oh, if it really has to be in SB or Riverside Counties, how about Perris?
I just love Perris, with its wide boulevards, chic bistros and fashionable denizens. Some think them snobby, but I think they're just delightful.
