My husband has transferred to CA - so happy that I am going back there (moved out of state when I was 9). His office is in Barstow - but we have targeted AV to live. We are bringing two daughters, 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 Santa Gertrudis Heifers - thus we really like the lot sizes and zoning in AV. My questions all have to do with the school district. Hubby has targeted a neighborhood area that he really likes - but for our younger daughter it would mean Phoenix Academy - and I'm hearing negative things about the neighborhood that the school is in. Can anyone give me any concrete information about that school?

Where is the Phoenix Academy? I can't say I know that school, sorry...I will look it up & give my 2 cents for what it is worth. Have you been out here yet?

Greatschools.org places that middle school at 2 out of 10 That is the exact area of town that I mentioned was not the best. But check it out for yourself, I see for commuting why you would want it for your husband. I have elementary school kids so I have heard negative or positive about this school. Just because the rating is bad does not mean the teachers are bad, don't let that skew you too much.....Good luck.
