Default Norco and Mira Loma

My husband and I are looking to moving to Norco/Corona/Mira Loma. I have two boys 13 and 11, I was wondering how the School System is? What Middle School and High School are best to look into? Is there much crime?

If possiable, what would the Pros and Cons be of Norco?
and the Pros and Cons of Mira Loma?

Overall, Norco is nicer than Mira Loma. Both are pretty rural compared to every other city in the area. Really large dirt backyards since most people have a few dogs and/or horses. If you want a pool, don't move to either city. If you aren't into horses, I'd look into Corona instead.

Don't compare Corona and Norco, very big difference.

All 3 areas are nice places to raise a family. I personally grew up in Mira Loma and loved the "country feel" that it had. We had a pool in our backyard and only had problems when the winds blew. Pool covers are a necessity if you want to live in this area!

I have also lived in both Norco and Corona for brief periods of time and both of those cities are nice as well. Norco is definitely horse oriented. When driving down most streets you need to be careful of people riding their horses, and it is definitely dusty around there. Trying to keep your house clean is a constant battle when the winds start blowing!

Corona is more developed, and you will likely not be able to have horses (or any other livestock) in your yard. There are multiple shopping centers and the houses are a bit more expensive than in Norco or Mira Loma. You will also not have as much land in Corona as you would have in Mira Loma or Norco. The latter two mostly contain 1/2 acre+ size lots; whereas Corona was all about building the most amount of homes in a specified area.

For information about the school district rankings you can go to http://www.schooldigger.com/. Mira Loma falls under the Jurupa Unified District (http://www.jusd.k12.ca.us/), and Norco and Corona share a district called the Corona-Norco Unified District (http://www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/cnusd/site/default.asp).

I hope this helps and good luck with selecting a city to live!

I personally like all three, as others have mentioned it depends on what your looking for. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that a lot of Mira Loma is newer homes and these homes were built on old dairy farms. Some people that live in those areas complain of a smell and fly problem. Best of luck!

I think you might be thinking of Eastvale (west side of the 15fwy). Most of Mira Loma is older. Sky Country, for example, has homes built in the late 70's on 1/2 acre lots, and a few newer homes in the 80's also on 1/2 acre lots. There are homes just east of Etiwanda that were built in the 50's. If you are planning to live in Mira Loma, don't expect a brand new housing tract...you just won't find it there.

Newfies is definitely right about the smell and the flies; but I think that comes from all the livestock in Mira Loma. The dairy odor still blows though, especially after it rains.

I have recently become interested in Norco as well. I currently live in Santa Cruz Ca which is sunny and perfect temp all year with forest and sea. I am afraid that Norco is hot most of the year. The "dusty" comments are interesting, too. What's the weather like? Is is ever rainy or just desert like?

Norco is not hot the entire year. The summers can get really warm (like 85-100), but the spring and fall are moderate temperature and the winter is cool. There is some rain in the winter every year, and although it's uncommon for the summer, we just got some rain a couple days ago! The dust can kick up a little with the winds, but it dies down pretty quickly. It's only an hour to the mountains or coast also!
