Hotter than...
a four-balled cat on a tin roof. Last time I was there, in June of 2005, it was 117 degrees. Documented. I have pictures to prove it. My wife looks like the figure from Munch's "The Scream" -- she's LITERALLY pulling her (sopping wet) hair out and the intensity of the heat has affected a wavy, burnt quality to the photos. And we were only out of the car for five minutes tops.
Yes it's a "bad area": any climate which would cook your bodily organs to mush in the mere two minutes it might take to walk from one end of the parking lot to the storefront qualifies as a "bad area."
Crime? It would be criminal for you to relocate your family to Needles. It would be like relocating your family to the innards of a Pittsburgh, PA steel-blasting furnace. Or relocating to the surface of the sun itself. Unless you're Virgil's Cacus, or somehow subhuman/ reptilian, you surely would not enjoy this inferno.
But if you must live there, go right ahead. Wear sunscreen, drink copius amounts of water, and batton down the hatches with state of the art air-conditioning and proper insulation!

Apparently; you have never been back east in the summer-------- factoring in the high humidity, Needles/Mohave Valley Az etc. are no hotter than places like Atlanta, etc.

Do your homework there: the housing along the Colorado River where Bullhead City, Needles, etc. are located is crashing as we speak.

123???OUCH!!!How can you breathe in that?
I was looking at real estate and I am not seeing any pools there? I was up into 400K homes and still no pools?
So is it bad from the heat or bad from crime?
Thanks

Needles has very few swimming pools........note that the town is old------as in it looks like a time warp from 1965.
And; 123F is not that bad--------I had more trouble breathing in Wash DC when it was a 'measly' 95F. The difference is the humidity back east is truly bad.

Yes, the humidity in the east/midwest is bad.
Thanks for the info about the pools. I know in Austin Texas I noticed they had few and found out it was because it is all limestone and a basic pool is about 60K. YIKES!
So, is the crime bad there in Needles?
Thanks

It's way too hot in Arizona. When I was approaching Needles, I thought my tires were going to pop in the heat. I ended up lowering the air pressure. The dryness and the heat was unbearable. It felt like the previous summer in Las Vegas where I couldn't walk down The Strip and my skin was cracking and breaking out. I just couldn't wait to get to Los Angeles or at least wait for night to come.
Leaving California, we filled up in Needles at 9:00-10:00 in the morning. It started getting hot very quickly.
