I hate Temecula
Just wanted to post this site for anyone that wants to bash Temecula. I am a Temecula basher. I absolutely hated Temecula when I lived there. I was there for 18 years and saw the first signal light go in so I wasn't new to the area at all. But anyways, I know so many people that moved out of that rate race just to escape the horrible traffic, people, commute times, and San Diego-priced homes.
There were a few nice things about that place. But all in all, it just got worse and worse and worse....

I used to live in Hemet in the late 80's and can relate to your frustration on the changes in Temecula/Murrieta. Traffic was terrible back then, and now it is even worse. Especially since the roads are still basically the same.

My friend dislikes the area also. Some of the people can be closed minded, but that is everywhere. He bought a second house in the area to try and make some $ but the market tanked. Oh well..........

traffic
yes I agree YOU-CANT-EAT-SCENERY.
My dad works for the city of Temecula as a Civil Engineer planning projects for the roadways/infrastructure. In ten years, when the project is done, they are going to be just as crowded or worse because of the growth factor will exceed the support factor of that program. That's the type of place you should move from not to.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind new faces. But when you put tons of people in a crowded space and folks start turning up their noses driving their BMWs cause they live in Temecula, then that's my time to leave.
I just hope it doesn't happen to me in Iowa.

Temecula traffic is bad.... Every time I drive up the 15 and see the line of people waiting to get off at Winchester (IIRC) it amazes me.

yeah i did that freeway for college and work for a while. i took pictures of it on my last day in So Cal before I picked up and left with my family.
The drive was bad because of the amount of homes built in the Temecula/Murrieta area without care of expanding road ways or inner-town roads.
So many home builders cashed in yet the town just responded by building a billion restaurants. Yeah. It was disgusting. I think more so for me because I saw the first stop light go in Temecula when I was 10.
The growth was exciting at first but then, they didn't stop, it just started getting really overboard until it got real ugly.

I never liked Temecula either -- but for me, it was the heat in the summer that bothered me.
I did like Hemet, particularly for retirees. The town is really easy to drive around since they put almost everything on one street! Plus, it's close for old folks who have kids who live in LA/Orange County.

And is it just me, or does Temecula have the highest concentration of Starbuck's in the world?
I swear last time I was there all I ever saw were green mermaid signs everytime I turned a corner.
And I *like* Starbuck's coffee...
