Default Remember

Remember, Temecula was built fast and is a new city, compared to Oceanside and such. It was once rumored that KKK group moved here from Fallbrook, but then was outted in the late 80s, hence very large population of white. The library is only five years old! Temecula was built upon by very conservative and strict city counsel, which got the city built like a "stepford wives community". It took hard decisions to rural out low income housing and buildings to get these pretty walks and building art. It will be interesting to see the city ten to 15 years from now when more "hipsters" move in. I have seen a huge change in four years. While it is more diversified, which is great, I have been encountering more people that have a "don't care" attitude. Everything is a trade off. We are here for the safe family/school environment.

New city?

It was called Temecula and then Rancho California, and then Temecula again.

It may have been incorporated in 1989 as Temecula ... but the post office has been there since 1859.

Let me rephrase what I meant by a "new" city. Wrong choice of sentence structure for the editing folks. A city that expanded quickly in the late 1980's. We have friends that have been here over 17 years. Many that live in Central and Wine country. It was neat for them to show us before and after shots. Even when Wolf Creek area was just a sheeps field.

I don't know. I can remember Temecula before the 15 freeway was built - I was a kid, and the amount of dirt they pushed around to build it was very impressive to me and my brothers! And even back then it was a little old downtown area, with some vintage buildings, and some new housing developments called Rancho California.

Temecula is a lot bigger than it was when I was a kid, and there are more houses, and more traffic, and more businesses - everything is bigger. But the important part - the people? They're the same! It's always been a mix of transplants from Orange, San Diego, and LA counties. It's always been mostly families, since it was families that appreciated getting bigger nicer houses than they could where they came from.

I have to agree. We have lived here only a few months and love it. Nice people, great weather and restaurants, affordable homes (for SoCA). Centrally located between L.A/ Orange County and San Diego, etc. My only complaint is how fast people drive but the good outweighs the bad.

People nowadays drive fast pretty much everywhere. I have observed even in the little quiet towns that still do exist, the rapid growth of local people speeding, which is on the rise, but agreed Temecula is one of the areas affected by speedsters as well
