Default Nightlife in the Palm Desert area....

Can any of you tell me about the nightlife in the Palm Desert area? Is Costas at the Marriott Desert Springs Resort any good or fun?

If you're into nightclubbing, I'm sure it's fine. It's at the Marriott, which is nice, and there's a lot of security, so it's probably safe.

There was an incident several years ago where a guy was severely beaten and hospitalized by some people who were not staying at the hotel, but who were using the pool area as if they were guests of the hotel. After the incident the Marriott installed the guardshack thing with the arms that lower after each car and began charging people to park. Marriott also increased security. Basically, a few dumb@sses ruined it for everybody. We used to go to dinner there frequently because there are several great restaurants at the Marriott, but now it's a big hassle to go through the guardshack, pay to park (it used to be free, and you could park close to the restaurants) and park WAY the hell out and walk a mile to the restaurants. Now we just go to other restaurants instead. It's a very "touristy" place, so if you're not a local, you're likely to meet lots of people from wherever you live.
