Default Dumpster/trash can divers in Corona

Beware people. In my area of north Corona this is becoming a weekly problem. Crews go out the morning of trash day and pick thru your curbside trash cans. You may think this is innocent bottle and can picking. I some cases it may be. This can also lead to identity theft if you are not careful to shred all bills and credit card offers.
Today I finally had enough of having to guard my trash and called Corona PD on the non emergency line. There is a Corona Municiple Code forbidding anyone messing with your trash, code 8.20.070.
The officer arrived too late but said he was aware of it and said he would try to do a drive thru next week at the same time.

That money from the blue bins is supposed to go back into the general fund. It is theft.

Glad I keep my dumpster behind locked gates with watch geese and a loud German Shepard next door to alert me.

And you think this trash is protected at the dump????

I have no problem with dumpster divers.
I recycle. All important documents are shredded and then burnt in my burn barrel.

Exactly. I recycle, so there's nothing of interest to them in there. Hence, no need for anyone to pick through the contents. I'll bet they're not overly concerned with the mess they make.

You are missing the point. Once it gets to the dump its fair game but going through our trash at home is theft ( of sorts). I shred everything but this is a warning to everyone, because a lot of people don't.

Every week on trash day, there's an SUV that pulls in front of my house at about 6AM, and the driver jumps out, and grabs the cans out of my neighbor's recycling bin. He doesn't bother with my bins, because I don't leave out any aluminum cans. In fact, he only stops for that one bin, in front of my neighbor's house. Clearly he knows which houses leave out aluminum cans, and which ones don't - and he doesn't bother with the rest.

When we first moved here, there were also a couple of guys on bikes that would come by later in the day, on trash day, and go through the actual trash can. That REALLY bothered me, because they didn't seem concerned when some of the trash ended up in the street, instead of in the bin, where it belonged. Thankfully they no longer come by.

Part of me wishes my neighbor would start taking his aluminum cans to the recycler himself - and getting the money for it. As it is, he's inadvertently encouraging these guys to come into our neighborhood, and go through our trash.

Not allowed in most because years ago some dummy got covered up by a D8.

I do the same since one of the cities I used to live in raised their trash fees AND wanted the recycleables seperated. If you are required to do that you might as well keep whatever cash you get for yourself.

I also agree with you about the mess some of these people leave after picking through your trash.

What pisses me off is that it upsets my dogs and gets them barking which will either wake me up if early or has me going out to checkout what's wrong since my privacy and peace and quiet has been disturbed.
