Default Mentone........is it OK?

Well, I have ruled out Palmdale and Bloomington based on numerous posts. I knew there had to be a reason for homes being so cheap! Thank you one and all.

Well, does anyone have info on Mentone? From pics, it looks nice but I want to be sure. Found some nice homes but just want to be sure. Also, travel time to LA via Metrolink........anyboby doing it now?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Mentone is fine. I live in Redlands which is about 5 minutes away. mentone is small and unicorporated, which means no city council, and all the police is done by san bernardino county. The only problem with that can be wait time. They have a great little restaurant called Mill Creek, great burgers! Anyway, it is a very small town. Prices are not that much different in redlands, CA which is a bit bigger city, and has some of the best schools in the area, if you have kids. Although I believe Mentone uses the Redlands school distirct. It is a poorer community, but not bad. Check out mentonechamber.com. Hope it helps.

Mentone is a nice small town. It's pretty laid back. That area has always been where I passed through to get down the hill from Big Bear. Not a lot happening but pretty there.

The closest metrolink station is in San Bernardino, about 15 miles away from Mentone. The commute from there into Union Station takes about an hour and a half. I do this once a week from Yucaipa to babysit my grandson. Not something I'd want to do every day, though. I think Rancho Cucamonga is about the farthest station I'd do for a daily commute into LA. Good luck with your house hunting!
