Default Best Horse Community?

Hi There,

Trying to figure out where we can get a decent area of land (quarter acre or more), that allows us to stable a couple horses. We don't need a super fancy house, and we'd like to keep costs as low as possible (we're alright with a fixer upper), and we'd love to live in a community of fellow horse-lovers!

We've heard Norco is a good potential spot - does anyone have ideas about where we should be looking?

Any feedback on Norco?

Norco is a.k.a. "Horsetown U.S.A". You will find your people there.

What about San Luis Obispo? Aren't they kind of known for being "horse country"?

Bonsall and Fallbrook in Northern San Diego County, and Temecula in Riverside County are also good places for horses.

A quarter acre isn't much land - and I don't think most places would allow a horse on such a small lot, but I did have a friend in Fallbrook who kept one of her horses in her backyard - the other two she boarded - but the she was able to keep one at home with her.

Norco is heaven for horse lovers. It is also a great location with so many freeways nearby.
Ingalls Park has many horse events and is home to the Norco Fair.

Norco allows up to five horses on 1/2 acre. There are several feed stores, tons of trails, community riding rings, equine vet, horse clubs, etc. in town. Norco is part of the Corona/Norco Unified School District which is one of the best districts in Riverside County. Home prices vary from the low $200,000 to close to $1,000,000 and everything in between. If horses are your thing, you can't beat Norco.

You could also investigate Nuevo/Lakeview, Homeland, Romoland, and any of the county areas around those. There are also horse ranches outside the city limits of Hemet and San Jacinto.

Thanks for all the great feedback! We're heading out to Norco this weekend to check out the area. Are there any particular neighborhoods with better access to trails or more horse-friendly properties (larger properties) or anything like that which we should know about?

Any advice is most appreciated!
