I don't know about Joshua Tree, but you can come into Palm Springs for ballroom. Rita Stephen has a ballroom dance every Wednesday at the Pavillion in Palm Springs during season, Elvia Gomez has a dance at Billy Reeds in PS on Tuesdays and Sundays. Elvia is a wonderful teacher. If there is nothing going on in JT and you want to venture out to dance, the Inland Empire is full of great dance venues and some really excellent teachers. If you want to PM me with your email address I can send you a newsletter that lists everything ballroom in the IE, OC and LA.

Huh? I've never seen street islands painted purple in Palm Springs, and even if there were, how does that indicate that gays have "no respect for hetero families with kids"? I guess you also don't realize how many gay people actually have children of their own.

By the way, it's not a "lifestyle". Almost no one chooses his or her sexual orientation.

I think rgrowley is referring to Cathedral City. That just happens to be the color the city selected. Has nothing to do with being gay.

I've never, ever run across any gays who have a problem with heterosexual couples/families. It's usually the closed-minded heteros who have a problem with the gay community. For the most part, we all get along without any problems.
