Default Advice: college student looking to move

I go to college in the IE, and am looking for a good place to move.
I'm looking at either Redlands or Riverside right now, but I am open to other suggestions.
Things to consider:
I would like to be near some sort of nightlife. In the IE which place has the better nightlife for singles in their early 20s?
I like being around people and being able to walk places or take mass transit. I have a car but I like not having to rely on it.
I'd like to be somewhere reasonably safe.

Thanks for the help. Again I'm open to any other suggestions, but would like to remain in the IE (mostly near San Berdo/Riverside)

Seems like certain areas of Riverside may work best. Having the UC there works to your advantage. Same goes for Cal Poly Pomona which isn't too far but it's crossing into LA county. A lot of posts on this forum do speak highly of Univ of Redlands (sp?) so that seems like another solid option.

If you want nightlife you should pick Riverside. There are lots of college students there so there should be plenty of nightlife options for someone your age. Expect to drive everywhere though, no way to get around that in the inland empire.

Thank you for the answer. So next question would be where in Riverside should I live if I want to be near downtown?

I can't comment specifically on where in Riverside. Will have to let the more knowledgeable locals chime in.

The obvious answer is live by downtown in the general area of 60/91 interchange. There is plenty of housing in that area. Look on Craigslist and google map apartments to see if they are in that general area.
